Hina Doll Festival in Matsushiro During the season of the girls' festival on the third of March, Matsushiro Town organizes the hina doll festival called “Hina Matsuri,” displaying hina dolls at 90 places throughout the town. During the festival,many events are scheduled,such as “Nagashi-bina” (when hina dolls dedicated to deities are thrown into rivers),classes on how to make small hina dolls with clothes,and walking events to look around at the dolls displayed as well as the streetscapes in Matsushiro Town. |

THE BESO “Beso,” a Togakushi dialect,means having too good a time beyond yourself through parties,drinking and having fun. At the festival where sake and wine are served,the traditional local drum performance,“Togakushi Daiko,” is played,and the Ninja fireworks are displayed in the night sky. |

Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon This is a special event to commemorate the Olympic Winter Games held in 1998.National and international top athletes run the course along with “citizen” runners. |
